(Story Update: According to Tanya Vann, the group met their fund-raising goal of $330. Total donations were $360. Be sure and buy a hamburger at the first home game on Sept. 6.)
LOCAL NEWS — It’s almost that time again. Friday Night Lights Lynchburg-style will kick off on Friday, September 6 when the MCHS Raiders play their first home game against Cornersville at 7 p.m.
Members of the boosters club that supports the varsity team are looking for donation to replace the gas grill the group uses to make hamburgers and hot dogs for the concession stand.
It all started with a post by an MCHS staff member, Wendy Ervin Hart, who casually asked on social media if any one had an extra gas grill available. In true Moore County spirit, folks soon started raising their hand.
“I’ll donate money for one,” posted Metro Moore County Mayor Bonnie Lewis. Soon almost another dozen folks raised their hands offering to contribute.
Now thanks to Tanya Syler Vann, the fundraiser has become official. Those wanting to help may contribute cash or a check to Pam Case at the Jack Daniel Credit Union or to Metro Mayor Lewis by the end of the day on Tuesday, August 13.
The group needs about $330 dollars to meet their goal and any excess funds will be used to start a future equipment needs fund.
The Raiders varsity season will kick off on Friday, August 23 at Cascade. For a complete schedule, click here. Let’s go blue, hey! •
