EVENTS | Hermitage — The Hermitage in Nashville is one of the areas most iconic sites. The historic plantation once belonged to our seventh president Andrew Jackson and is listed as a National Historic Site. Imagine large Corinthian style columns on a two story Federal-style building surrounded by gardens, a cedar-lined driveway, and white picket fence. Now imagine all that filled with over 5,000 carved pumpkins.

That will be the scene beginning Thursday, October 3 as The GLOW: A Pumpkin Wonderland opens in Nashville. Organizers stress that there are no scary elements and that it’s a perfect family-friendly event for all ages.

The third of a mile trail is filled with every imaginable pumpkin design from artistically detailed single pumpkins to amazing, larger than life structures. The event is stroller friendly but pets are not allowed. Photographers both amateur and professional are also welcome but tripods are not allowed. They will offer seasonal snacks and pumpkin artisans will be on hand to display their carving skills. You can also pick up a gourd at the pumpkin patch and try your own skills at home.

You must buy advanced tickets to attend. No tickets are available at the event. Tickets range from $16.99 for kids and $22.99 for adults. The event will run Thursday through Sunday beginning Oct. 3 and ending on Oct. 27. For ticket information, click here. The Hermitage is located at 4580 Rachels Lane in Hermitage. •
