MC Senior Center plans Veteran’s Day Lunch

Jack Daniel Primo Grills

LOCAL NEWS — The federal government established Veteran’s Day (originally know as Armistice Day) on November 11, 1919. It commemorates the formal ending of World War I on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when Armistice with Germany went into effect. It is distinct from Memorial Day because it honors all military veterans not just those who died in service.

The Moore County Senior Citizens Center will host a Veteran’s Day Luncheon on Monday, November 11 at 11 a.m. The guest speakers will be Claude Morse of Manchester and Reverend Rickey Wade of Tullahoma. Morse received the Governor’s Volunteer Star Award for Coffee County for his work with Honor Flight, Wreaths Across America, and other organizations. Organizers will also read a list of all Moore County veterans, and locals are encouraged to add their loved ones (living or dead) to the list by calling Direct Sharon Pragel at 931-759-7317.

The event is open to the general public but please RSVP by Friday, November 8 if you plan to eat lunch to give them time to plan to have adequate food. •
